A francia társadalmat mind a mai napig élénken foglalkoztatja, hogy milyen szerepet tölt(sön) be a vallás a hétköznapi gyakorlatban. És okkal, hiszen a vallás, azon belül is a különféle formákat öltő radikalizmus és integralizmus, illetve a laicitás kérdésköre meglehetősen összetett. A vitát a XX. században az 1905-ben nem kis nehézségek árán átvitt, Egyház és Állam szétválasztásáról rendelkező törvény határozta meg.

Mit jelent ma a laicitás Franciaországban? Milyen elvi alapvetések következnek belőle? És a laikus társadalom elve mennyi mozgásteret hagy a vallásgyakorlatnak?

A témát elsőként Mathilde Philip-Gay, a lyoni Jean Moulin egyetem habilitált docense járja körül, előadását követően pedig két másik egyetemi oktató-kutató segítségével nyerhetünk bepillantást abba, mi a helyzet ezen a téren Magyarországon, illetve a világ más országaiban.

Law, secularism and the place occupied by religion in the public sphere

The place occupied by religion is a major subject in contemporary French society. The attitude of the French towards the religious question, secularism and the various forms of radicalism and fundamentalism is, to say the least, complex. Furthermore, the relations between religion and the State, based on the law of separation of the Church and the State voted in pain in 1905, is singular.

How is secularism conceivable in France? / How is the concept of “laicity” shaped in France?

What are the main principles that follow? What place does this concept leave to religions?

Professor Mathilde Philip-Gay will address these issues at this conference and Professor Harith Al-Quarawee will talk about the transformations of religion, authority, and the state in the Arab world.
