Francia nyelven magyar és angol szinkrontolmácsolással

Cynthia Fleury, filozófus, az American University of Paris és a Sciences Po politika-filozófia tanára, az Hôtel-Dieu filozófiai tanszékének vezetője. Kutatásaiban a demokrácia gyakorlatával és anomáliáival, valamint a demokratikus szabályozás eszközeivel foglalkozik. A demokrácia anomáliái (Fayard, 2005) c. művében mérleget von a francia demokrácia egészségi állapotáról és alapelveiről. Az Elfogyott a bátorság (Fayard, 2010) c. művében pedig az egyén és a közösség politikai elbátortalanodásáról ír és arról, hogy hogyan lehet fenntartani a valódi demokráciát.

Cynthia Fleury az Országos Etikai Konzultatív Bizottság tagja, a Roosevelt Kollektíva társalapítója és alelnöke, az UNESCO női filozófusokat tömörítő európai hálózatának alapító tagja, rendszeresen szerepel a médiában.

Az előadás a budapesti, prágai és pozsonyi Francia Intézetek által közösen megrendezett „Beszólsz vagy beszállsz? - A politikai szerepvállalás napjainkban” című konferenciasorozat nyitó eseménye. A rendezvény főtámogatója a párizsi Francia Intézet.

Az eseménysorozat bemutatása :

Jelenleg számos mozgalom tűzte zászlajára a demokrácia és a demokrácia alapját képező mobilizációs formák megújítását. Gondolhatunk itt a francia Nuit Debout (Éjszakai felkelés) mozgalomra, a Brexit-népszavazás és az amerikai elnökválasztás meglepő eredményére, a civil társadalomból induló vagy a megkérdőjelezésen alapuló pártok megjelenésére.

Ezen történések láttán felmerül a kérdés, hogy mi is az a politikai elköteleződés és milyen hosszú távú hatása van úgy, hogy a kifejezési módjai változnak, a politikai hatalom hagyományos formái (szavazati jog gyakorlása, párthoz való csatlakozás) elveszítették a lendületüket és egyre nagyobb az igény a spontánabb részvételi formák iránt és ezzel párhuzamosan egyre nagyobb az érdeklődés az egy konkrét ügyben való elköteleződés iránt. 

A 2017-ben a Budapesti, Prágai és Pozsonyi Francia Intézetek szervezésében megvalósuló konferencia- és beszélgetéssorozat célja, hogy megvizsgálja, milyen a mai politikai elköteleződés, milyen (társadalmi, gazdasági és intézményes) jellemzők strukturálják és milyen perspektívák rajzolódnak ki a jövő generáció politikai mobilizációjának terén.

A nyitókonferencia után vitaestekre és kerekasztal-beszélgetésekre kerül sor, melyeken olyan francia, magyar cseh és/vagy szlovák felszólalók nézőpontját ismerhetjük meg, akik a politika, filozófia, szociológia vagy újságírás világát, vagy a fiatal generációt képviselik. A megvitatott témák aktuálisak mind Franciaországban, mind abban a három közép-európai országban, amelynek intézetei partnerei az eseménysorozatnak.

Az eseménysorozat következő témái :

 - A demokrácia alapja és a mai kor kihívásai (Április 19. 18.00, Budapesti Francia Intézet)

A kerekasztal-beszélgetés témája a társadalmi változás, a gazdaság és a politikai részvétel közötti kapcsolat. A társadalom „uberizációja” és a gazdasági rendszerek lassulása, a – liberális demokrácia hagyományos alappillérét képező – középosztály súlyának és szerepének változása: milyen következményekkel jár mindez a pártrendszerek felépítése és a politikai részvételi formák szempontjából? Részt vesz : Bruno Cautrès, kutató, Sciences Po Politikai Kutatások Központja, a politikai attitüdök és viselkedések szakértője

- A politikai elköteleződés etikai vetülete (október elején, Budapesti Francia Intézet)

A második kerekasztal-beszélgetés témája a közéleti etika lesz. Az előadók szót ejtenek majd a „hatalom” és a „politika” közötti kapcsolatot meghatározó szabályokról és az ezen szabályok felett őrködő intézményekről. Szó lesz többek között az alábbiakról: a politikai vezetők megválaszthatósága, a közélet átláthatósága, pártszerveződés és pártfinanszírozás, médiaszabályozás.

 - Milyen szerepet játszik majd a fiatal generáció a politikában? (november végén, Budapesti Francia Intézet)

A fiatal generációk aktuális kérdésekre adott válasza témánként és országonként változik. Van, hogy hallatják a hangjukat és van, hogy közönyt tanúsítanak. Miért aggódnak és mire vágynak? Szerintük hol van a helyük a politikai közösségben? A politikai színtér megnyílhat a nők és a kisebbségek előtt is?

Opening lecture

Cynthia Fleury, philosopher, is professor of political philosophy at American University of Paris and at Sciences Po, and holds the chair of philosophy at the Hôtel Dieu hospital in Paris. She focuses in her research on the principles that underpin democracy, on the conditions that make for their success or failure, and on the tools of democratic regulation. Her work on Les Pathologies de la démocratie (Fayard, 2005, “Pathologies of Democracy”) is an analysis of the state of French democracy and of the values and principles that have underpinned it since 1789. In La Fin du courage (Fayard, 2010, “The end of courage”), she reflects on individual and collective political courage – and on its limits – and on the solutions that can make for a real democracy.

A member of the national consultative committee on ethics, co-founder and vice-president of the Collectif Roosevelt (a citizen network seeking to foster public debate on political, social and economic issues), founding member of the UNESCO European network of women philosophers, Cynthia Fleury writes a weekly column in L’Humanité and is regularly invited to comment on philosophy and current affairs in radio and television programmes and in the press.

This is the opening event of the series of lectures and round tables on “Getting involved with politics today” organised throughout this year by the French Institutes in Budapest, Prague and Bratislava, with the support of the French Institute in Paris.

Description of the series

As recent months have shown, an important demand exists for a renewal of democracy and of the forms of mobilisation that underpin it. Examples include the French Nuit Debout protest movement (in opposition to the proposed labour reforms), the surprise results of the Brexit referendum and of the US presidential elections, and the emergence of new political parties.

These various examples beg a number of questions including whether traditional forms of political power (such as the vote or membership of a political party) are losing their appeal, whether these are superseded by a growing demand for more spontaneous forms of participation or for single-cause mobilisation, and, ultimately, of what engaging in politics means today.

The aim of the cycle of conferences and debates organised by the French Institutes in Budapest, Prague and Bratislava throughout 2017 is therefore to map out forms of contemporary political engagement as well as the major factors (social, economic, institutional) that structure it, and to investigate the interest of younger generations for political mobilisation.

Following an opening lecture, each debate or round table will bring together French, Hungarian, Czech and/or Slovak speakers as well as various disciplinary and generational viewpoints on topics which are as relevant for France as for the countries of Central Europe where our three partner Institutes are located.

Upcoming events in this series

- The foundations of democracy and their contemporary weaknesses (19^th April, 6pm, French Institute in Budapest)

This round table discussion will focus on the connections between social change, economics, and political participation. What are the consequences for the system of political of parties and the forms of political participation of the change of economic models (e.g. toward an “über-isation” of society) and of the relative changes in interaction between individuals and social groups that derives from it? With the participation of Bruno Cautrès, researcher at the Centre for Political Research at Sciences Po (CEVIPOF), where he focuses on voting patterns, on political behavior and attitudes, and on the study of political and social cleavages.

 - Ethics of political engagement (early October, French Institute in Budapest)

This second round table will focus on the rules that underpin the relations between “power” and “politics” and on the institutions that exist to oversee these rules (which include eligibility requirements, transparence of public life, organization and financing of parties, media regulation etc).

 - How do younger generations fit in today’s politics? (late November, French Institute in Budapest)

This debate will be accompanied by a research group with students to discuss how they see their place in the political community, what forms of engagement and information they would like to see emerge, and how the political field can also be made more open to women and minorities.
