An interdisciplinary PhD student conference organized by the French Institute in Budapest in collaboration with the College of Philosophy Budapest.

Thursday, 4th October, 2018, French Institute, Budapest

Call for Papers - deadline 5 August 2018

The year 1968 with its cycle of protest, social movements and political events shaped considerably the ways in which we think today about modern society, political reality and social practice. This conference seeks to provide an opportunity for graduate students in humanities from France and Hungary for taking this year in its local or global signification and reflect on its implications as well as lasting consequences in the fields of philosophy and the human sciences. General questions of interest can be: How have the theoretical and methodological approaches in humanities evolved in the aftermath of 1968? What are the new topical questions in philosophy and the human sciences the appearance of which can be linked to the events of 1968? Who are the major representatives of the legacy of 1968 in these disciplines? In what ways the events of this year have changed the ways we think about event, structure, experience, practice, action, agency today?

We welcome papers from the disciplines including but not limited to philosophy, sociology political science, history, cultural studies, gender studies, comparative literature.

Eligible graduate students for the conference are those who are enrolled in a doctoral program in the humanities in France or in Hungary.

Submissions should consist of an abstract (up to 300 words), including a title and a short biography in English. The deadline for all abstract submissions is the 5th of August 2018. The selected participants will be invited to present their paper, in English, in 20mns followed by a discussion. Questions about conference details may be directed to Professor Adam Takács: takacsadam@hotmail.com
